Since 1990, a single Lake County company's commitment to its community has grown into a full initiative to eliminate hunger and homelessness for good.
Carver Financial Services was founded with the vision of making people's lives better. Since 1990, the company and its community have donated more than 600,000 meals and $448,000 to those in need, locally.
In June 2022, that decades-long commitment formally became The New Beginning Initiative — focused on permanently eliminating hunger and homelessness in Lake County by helping individuals who want to help themselves.
While many programs exist to support those who cannot work, this initiative is built solely around those who want gainful employment but are blocked by one of four challenges: affordable childcare, transportation, marketable skills, and affordable housing.
It's a collaborative effort between nonprofit organizations, local government, and local businesses — designed not just to change lives in Lake County, but to serve as a proof of concept for communities across the country.
To provide a hand up—not a handout—so that individuals and families can build lives of dignity, purpose, and self-reliance.
A Lake County where every individual willing to work has the opportunity to achieve independence, where hunger and homelessness are no longer barriers to a better life, and where families have lasting financial stability.
To eliminate hunger and homelessness in Lake County by empowering people committed to helping themselves — through targeted, temporary support that removes barriers to meaningful employment.
This program only works because a community chose to come together for its neighbors. Every hand extended, every barrier cleared, adds another chapter — and there's a role in it for you.
